Ever since our arrival, we have made a trip to the Museum of Science and Technology in Haifa – Medatech to our family “must visit” list. And looking ahead, I can say that the museum is really a must-visit if you are in any way interested in the topic “how it works”.
The museum itself is located in a historic building, which until 1986 was the building of the university.
The museum has several thematic zones: space, energy, principles of operation of aircraft, optical illusions, exposure of tricks.
The museum did not bypass the creations of the great Leonardo da Vinci. Medatech has a whole hall dedicated to the maestro, where you can see examples of his drawings, prototypes of inventions and models of aircraft. Most of all I liked that you can touch many of the exhibits, understand the principle of work on your own. It really reinforces the material and gives the brain food for thought.

The room imitating the solar system, with the orbits of all the planets, clearly gives an idea of the ratio of the objects of all the planets and the star called the Sun. If you have a little space lover growing up in your family, then he is guaranteed to be delighted and will have fun running around orbits, naming the planets. And of course, he will be interested in a huge model of the Moon, where you can see not only all the craters and seas, but also the landing sites of various aircraft from the Earth.
Particularly noteworthy is the courtyard located behind the museum, but in fact it is another hall of the open-air museum. Here you can get acquainted with the principles of operation of a water mill, the construction of a dam and its locks, see how ships were launched into the water in ancient times. I was most impressed with a structure similar to a swing, which gives a visual representation of the operation of the lever and another swing, which, synchronizing with the pendulum, swings on its own.
The expositions in the museum are constantly changing and this is another reason to come here more than once and discover a lot of new and interesting things.
