In northern Israel, next to Kibbutz Nir David there is the amazing Gan Garoo Park. The name of the park is a play of words: “gan” from Hebrew “park”, and the name “Gan Garou” itself is consonant with the word “kangaroo”. This consonance is not accidental here. Gan Garoo is an Australian park that is a home for kangaroos. Every day, residents and guests of Israel come to the park to spend a day here filled with incredible emotions from meeting with these sweetest creatures.
The park is spread over an area of 4 acres, the kangaroos have their own spacious corral in which they lead their free and measured life. Females take care of the cubs, teenage kangaroos energetically jump around the corral, males sort things out, then lazily doze in the sun. In general, the situation in the paddock is very peaceful, because the local kangaroos have no worries about food. Numerous tourists daily feed kangaroos directly from their hands, and they buy food in special machines right here in the park. Kangaroos are friendly, easily make contact with guests and allow you to stroke their backs.
It is especially interesting to watch kangaroo mothers and their babies in bags. Here you can see both very tiny babies who have not even left their mother’s bag yet, and almost teenagers who are still not averse to spending time with their mother, despite the fact that only half of them fit into the bag. Kangaroos are born very tiny - about 25 mm in length. These are the smallest mammalian babies when compared to the size of an adult kangaroo. The next 6-8 months the baby will spend in his mother's bag. At the initial stage, the mother's nipple will be a real umbilical cord for him, the baby is so weak that he will not be able to suck yet, milk will be injected into him at certain intervals.
Families with children are the most frequent visitors to Gan Garoo Park. Children are delighted with the opportunity to see kangaroos, feed them and pet them. But adults should not forget about safety rules: kangaroos can accidentally knock down babies, do not leave children unattended.
Not only kangaroos can delight children. The park has two bird pavilions. Australian parrots Lorikets live in one - quite large and very loyal to people. Even in the wild, Lorikets prefer to settle near people so as not to bother looking for food. Lorikets are excellent pets, unpretentious and beautiful rainbow birds. Loris live in the second pavilion - no less bright and friendly birds. Here at the entrance you will receive some wooden skewers with strung fruit to feed the parrots. Loris will sit on you and eat treats from your hands. Both children and adults are delighted with such a show.
On the territory of the park, you can also watch other representatives of the Australian fauna: ostriches, flying foxes, reptiles and others. The park has many picnic areas and playgrounds. And the little guests will also find a labyrinth with prehistoric inhabitants of the Jurassic period - robotic dinosaurs. They can move, breathe, blink, and even speak.
As you can see, Gan Garoo is a great place to spend a weekend and get a lot of joyful emotions. Be sure to visit this unique piece of Australia in the promised land.
